Grassroots end season on a high
In a thrilling finale to the season’s action, GG Grassroots FC edged Harare Polytechnic in a pulsating Division 2 clash.
After a tight opening, GG Grassroots took the lead in the 42nd minute with a beautiful strike from Trymore, earning a 1-0 halftime advantage. The Expendables started the second half pressing high up the pitch, probing the Polytechnic defense with evident intensity.
In the 58th minute, Mabara struck a spectacular goal to make it 2-0 for Grassroots. Just two minutes later, Supu surged forward and finished sharply, extending the lead to 3-0. Harare Polytechnic found a late consolation in the 72nd minute, but it was too late to alter the outcome.
GG Grassroots FC showcased a strong second-half performance, converting their chances efficiently and maintaining sustained pressure on the visitors. The defense held firm for the majority of the match, with the breakthrough coming from GG’s concerted second-half push.
